Diwali special light

This festival of light and prosperity come with joy and willingness, people try to light out their darkness of soul and mind. What makes Diwali so special is the light! The decoration of different light and their glow, makes the event so special and unique. I always loved clay Diyas, where as alternative source of light like candle, electronic bulbs can be used for decoration. Here my flat has all open CFL hanging from roof. Many time I asked landlord for bracket or lamp shade, But all are in vain. So I took this opportunity to create my own lamp shader.
From Chinese shop I brought  3 hanging paper lamp shades. Which is giving ambient soft light around the bed rooms.

Once I brought a white paper globe to use to over dinning table. Then I also brought a strange square shape light which is almost transparent and emits all light, So I have to get rid of that light, and finally after some brain storming I got an idea, lets turn its like a bird cage or birds feeder.

The first round lamp, was created shakily, the structure was difficult to stand, where as the material used behind it was a soft thread, which is unlikely for this. But with some effort I hold it straight and raped it with blue crape paper. To make it attractive 3 floating flowers was pined into it. Help from Nima to hold it straight (even with her painful back).

Real to Caricature, just a experiment!! Hope Pamela will not mind! (or other way)

Landscape

Black River, small river of the Island and in delta! I was behind capturing floating white clouds, hope I am getting better! :)

A Rock, 'The pride rock' of Lion King! its a inspiration you can say! But this we saw when we went to 'Mukteshwar' above of 'Nainital' it is a wonderful cliff; where people go for expedition and adventure!

Forest Fairy

My dream fairy, This is my first attempt to create a fairy. She is surrounded with lush green forest and the moist wood, fern, butterflies with other creatures. In the deep forest flooded with ambient light, I try to capture the soft light and environment, She is a girl with her charm and beauty but not with her fairy feather. In this Fairy I spent quite a long time, as I changed it many times, now Finally I have decided to share with you.

Landscape Speed painting! My first Landscape speed Painting in Photoshop, Really like it. I finished it in 1 hour!

Lazy Sunday

Just a lazy Sunday from my window, Lovely clouds floating like, after a pillow fight cottons released in the sky, they are truly amazing! they change color with time and light, here in Mauritius! It seems to be like spend all time to draw the clouds.Their tenderness softness and reflection of light. This time I quick sketch with soft pastel. Hope to draw them in watercolor soon!

Soft Pastel

Flow of soft pastel, Flower study- Flower Pastel

 In India Winter comes with Chrysanthemums, the lovely flower with vibrant color and different shapes of petals. In our house in Kolkata, my dad prepares clay pots just after Diwali for Chrysanthemums, (known as Chandramallika) so the plants can flower before Saraswati Pujo; decleration of coming spring! winter is not harsh like Europe, so it gives flower in the periods of December- January.
Here in Mauritius, in the south hemisphere, it is just opposite than India. So in the month of August we brought this bunch of Chrysanthemums flowers. and I can stop my self in my new soft Pastel and Pastel Paper. I really like them!

Lost in the process of creation

Since I lost Bunty(my Dog) in 24th March 10, I was thinking to create a image to commemorate her! I thought about ideas, it was lot of memory with her that I cherish! Then I remember that it was fun for her to scratch  my arms when i used to do painting! So I go for this composition. I chose other creatures that I like and I love, to create a atmosphere.

I draw my self portrait in the state of lost in the process and charm of creation! for the background I was confused between interior or exterior, then I thought to mix them, but as I progress in the painting it just only blurred image of exterior!

The Squirrel, Hamster, Bird, Fighter fish and Dragon all I love to paint them! The image in monitor was complicated, as I thought to show it in unfinished way. But it never look good, so detailing was added and at last aborted! remain half done! Main focus and details were given to creatures and very specially spot light.
